Home Status collects nothing.
Where your data goes
Home Status talks to one place: your own Home Assistant server, at the address you give it. It reads your logbook and history to draw the timeline: which rooms needed heat, when lights went on and off, what your motion and door sensors recorded, and which devices went offline. That data travels directly between your phone and your server and is used only to show you the screen you're looking at.
Home Status has no servers of its own, no analytics, no crash reporting services and no advertising. Nothing from your home is sent to us or to anyone else. The app only reads; it never changes anything in your home.
Signing in
You sign in with your Home Assistant account, on your own server's login page. The app never sees your password. It keeps the sign-in it receives in the iPhone's Keychain, on the phone, and nowhere else. You can see and revoke it at any time under your profile in Home Assistant, under Security.
One thing to know: when you sign in, your Home Assistant server fetches the page at homestatus.app once, to confirm the address the app asks it to send the sign-in to. That request comes from your server, carries nothing about you or your home, and is the only time homestatus.app is involved. The site has no analytics.
What stays on the phone
Your server's addresses and your sign-in. Connections to your server use the encryption your server provides: a Home Assistant Cloud address is always encrypted, and a local address is only as private as your home network. Disconnecting the phone in Settings removes the sign-in from the phone and ends it in Home Assistant. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the next install; the session in Home Assistant then expires on its own after 90 days unused, or sooner if you revoke it there.
Explanations
On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, Home Status can explain an event in a sentence. That runs on the phone, with Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent to a server for it.
Third parties
If you reach your server through Home Assistant Cloud, that connection is covered by Nabu Casa's privacy policy. Home Status is an independent app and is not affiliated with Home Assistant, Nabu Casa or the Open Home Foundation.
Children
Home Status is for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
